Arthur Koopmans explores the Star Myths of the Norse

Congratulations to Arthur Koopmans for his terrific discussion of his Norse myth research on Mike and Maurice's Mind Escape podcast, which was streamed live just a couple days ago, on Wedesday, June 24th (which, as Arthur points out, is Odin's Day or Wotan's Day, from which we get our English name for the day).

Above is the YouTube video recording of the interview, complete with Arthur's accompanying artwork which really helps bring the subject to life.

I am very happy to see that the Star Myth connections in the world's ancient myths resonated with Arthur, who had already been drawn to the Norse myths for inspiration in other areas of his life.

Building on what he found in some of my research including in Star Myths of the World, Volume Four: Norse Mythology, Arthur has done his own original analysis to advance some very insightful additional arguments regarding important episodes in the surviving Eddic texts, including the pivotal sacrifice of Odin hanging upon Yggdrasil for nine days and nine nights in order to obtain the secret of the runes.

You can see more of Arthur's work at his website, Secrets of the Norse.

I very much commend Arthur's work to everyone and am very happy to see it, and hope that many more men and women around the world will be inspired by the incredible treasure given to all cultures in the ancient myths, and the powerful messages they have for our lives, and the ways that they use the language of the heavens to convey their ancient meaning to us even in this very moment.

If you know someone who loves the myths and might be excited to learn about the ancient world-wide system of celestial metaphor which weaves through the sacred stories, please let them know about resources such as Arthur's website, as well as my Star Myths of the World site. Those in college now (or teaching at colleges) might especially find new inspiration for directions of fruitful study -- but I'm convinced that all men and women can benefit from exploration of the myths.

During the above interview, Arthur says (beginning at about the 44:00-minute mark in the video clip):
It's amazing how the myths are based upon the stars. I think this also enriches the way I experience these myths: I think it's a wonderful thing. That you can go out, you can look up at the night sky, you can see all these stories played out -- by looking at the night sky, you have the feeling that you are more connected to this larger cosmos that's out there, which we are a part of.
Well spoken.

Racial Jesus Arguments

Recently, a professional activist published statements declaring that depictions of "white Jesus and his European mother" are manifestations of "white supremacy" and "need to come down."

Above is a new video I've posted addressing some of these issues, entitled "Racial Jesus Arguments."

Inflammatory issues are easily used to "push buttons" and provoke unthinking reactions, and I very much suspect that this is exactly what is going on here -- as a means of trying to stir up division in order to distract attention from increased technological surveillance, militarization of society, and even possibly mandatory vaccinations which manipulate human DNA in ways that have never been used before.

Assertions that Jesus and his mother looked like this or looked like that  should be easily dismissed by now, with overwhelming evidence available to demonstrate that the stories of the New Testament (as well as in the rest of the Biblical scriptures, along with virtually all the other ancient myths and sacred stories around the globe) are based on celestial metaphor.

Jesus and Mary can be definitively associated with specific constellations -- and constellations do not have "race" or "gender" or "ethnicity."

As with virtually all of the world's ancient myths, scriptures and sacred stories, the stories and characters found in the Bible are esoteric in nature and designed to teach us deep truths about concepts we cannot see or touch, including the reality and importance of our authentic self, from whom we become alienated due to trauma, and the importance of recovering who we are.

Literalism by its very nature often devolves towards focus on the external and physical, and questions of "who is descended from whom" -- the very opposite of the focus of the ancient myths.

Thus, literalism tends to divide us from one another, when in fact the evidence that the world's myths are all built on the same foundation should unite us.

We need to come together and have compassion for one another.

Racial exploitation and oppression are very real problems, which nobody can deny -- problems which continue to this day and which very much need to be addressed and not dismissed or minimized.

But deliberately inflaming division with inflammatory statements about "how Jesus really looked" and with calls to tear down statues and stained-glass windows are not only wrong (since they are based on misguided literalistic interpretations of the biblical scriptures) but also harmful.

And they are the opposite of the tactics modeled by Dr. King before he was murdered by those who don't want to see us working together.

Publishing videos on sensitive subjects, including racial division, definitely invites negative reaction from some viewers -- and can tend to create self-censorship and the desire to avoid controversial topics (in order to stay with safe subjects that do not invite negative comments and "dislike" or "thumbs-down" ratings). However, I believe it is important to try to address divisive issues when division is being deliberately sown -- and when these divisive arguments are based upon flawed understanding of the world's ancient scriptures (and appear to be used to distract and divide the people in order to allow the roll-out of instruments of greater control and of economic austerity and exploitation). I try to point towards the ancient wisdom contained in the myths, which were given for our benefit and blessing, even in the very present moment and even in the midst of deliberately provocative tactics utilizing the most emotional topics available.

I hope that these videos can be helpful to some viewers, and can point us towards the wisdom given to every culture in the sacred traditions imparted in remote antiquity to all people.

End-of-the-World Anxiety

Worried about end-of-the-world prophecies?

We're already going through quite a bit of engineered stress in our lives lately (in which very real problems appear to be deliberately mis-handled in order to divide and manipulate and demoralize the populace), but on top of that some tabloid media and assorted commentators recently started propagating another "end-of-the-world" forecast, this one based on the assertion that the Maya long-count was "off by eight years" and everything from 2012 should be applied to 2020.

Above is a new video I made yesterday, on 21 June (when the supposed Armageddon was predicted in some tabloids), entitled

"End-of-the-World Anxiety: Maya Long-Count and Literalist Armageddon Angst."

Myth-systems around the world employ celestial metaphor and often depict shifts in the heavenly ages (caused by the mechanics of precession) in the guise of a tremendous world-ending catastrophe, or a cataclysmic battle (or both, and then some). This includes the apocalyptic texts in the bible, as well as descriptions of Ragnarok in Norse myth, and also the Maya long-count to the end of the age of the Fourth Sun.

Although the world's ancient myths are intended to help heal trauma and its consequences -- separation from our authentic self, anxiety, depression, and even physical illness -- literalism has sought to stamp out the world's ancient wisdom and even to inflict trauma instead of seeking to repair it and prevent it.

The recent sensationalism surrounding the Maya long-count by a culture built on literalist patterns (including centuries of teaching that the bible is talking about a literal Armageddon) is just another grievous example.

For those interested in exploring further, here are some previous videos regarding celestial foundations of some aspects of the Revelation (or Apocalypse) of John:

Summer Solstice, June 2020

image: Wikimedia commons (link).

We have reached another June solstice, which is of course the summer solstice for the northern hemisphere of our planet.

Above is a summer solstice photograph (from 2005) of the pre-dawn sky at Stonehenge, looking towards the east, where the sun will soon rise.

As the indefatigable Gordon Freeman argues in his essential book, Hidden Stonehenge (2012), the  sun would rise on this day through a "window" formed by the Great Trilithon of which the one remaining intact pillar is the tallest stone you see in the photograph above (somewhat to the left of center, looking like a tall rectangle with a small cone on top). That stone, the highest one in the photograph above, is Sarsen Stone 56, which once held up the Great Trilithon (along with its twin, Sarsen Stone 55, and their lintel stone across the top, designated Sarsen 156).

If you follow this link to the website of Gordon Freeman's publisher, you will see a photograph in which Gordon has drawn in the other two stones of the Great Trilithon, showing the "window" that is formed above the outer Circle lintels (a line of which can still be seen against the background of sky, to the right of Sarsen Stone 56 in the above photograph).

That photograph is found on page 102 of Hidden Stonehenge. As Professor Freeman explains, from the observing point to the southwest of the Great Trilithon (about 300 meters to the southwest), an observing point indicated by a barrow which he calls "Oval Twin Disk Barrow 10," the sun would rise through that window of the Great Trilithon on the morning of the June Solstice, thousands of years ago.

"The rise point would have been just above the Circle lintels in the gap of the Great Trilithon," he writes (101).

Gordon Freeman appears to have been the first to have discovered this alignment in the modern era. Based on his analysis of the alignment from the Oval Twin Disk Barrow, he writes:
The Sun rise would have remained in this window for at least nine days bracketing the Summer Solstice. That was enough time for at least one thrilling appearance of the first flash in the Trilithon window, even if the weather were as bad as now. The Solstice might have been celebrated during the entire stand-still period of five, possibly seven days.
The Trilithon window above the Sarsen Circle made a spectacular display of the Summer Solstice Sun rise. I had expected to find an accurate Summer Solstice rise line, but the art and engineering that shaped and erected rocks that weighed up to 60 tonnes each, to put a magnificent, massive slit-window 5 meters in the air to frame the Sun rise, was amazing. 103.
That the ancient cultures of the world created structures incorporating incredible alignments to frame the rising of the sun, moon, planets and stars on specific days of the year is beyond any argument.

Why they did so, however, is not beyond argument. Not at all.

Based on my exploration of the world's myths to this point, and the undeniable evidence that they too are built upon a celestial foundation (a fact which, along with all the physical, archaeological evidence we find on our earth, demonstrates beyond doubt that the conventional paradigm of ancient history is fundamentally flawed and in need of radical revision), I am convinced that the heavenly cycles (including the annual cycle delineated by the solstices and equinoxes and the movement of the sun through the signs of the zodiac) is used in the ancient system to convey wisdom we need in this life we are living right now, even in this very present moment.

In an important passage which I have cited in numerous previous posts, including this one and this one, the indispensable Alvin Boyd Kuhn argues that the great cycle of the year, beginning at the point of summer solstice, was used as an analogue for the descent of our own animating soul or divine spark, down out of the realm of spirit (the realm of pure potential) into incarnation (symbolically associated with the fall equinox) and down into matter, reaching its lowest point at the winter solstice, which represents the lowest point of the cycle and thus corresponds to the "second" or "spiritual" birth, when we begin to perceive that we are more than our physical body and physical appetites.

While I do not disagree with Kuhn's interpretation (far from it), I now would argue that the entire cycle can also be understood to have to do with the related subject of our separation from and suppression of our own essential or authentic self, from whom we become alienated due to trauma. The ancient myths can be seen to have as one of their most central subjects the healing of trauma and the recovery of our own self.

Thus, the entire cycle expounded by Kuhn in the extended quotation cited in those previous posts (such as this one) can be re-read as describing, not only our spirit's journey down into physical incarnation, but also our "burial" of the essential self, deep down out of sight -- and the promise of the recovery of our essence which is contained within the world's myths, from virtually every culture on our earth.

This hopeful subject is the focus of my most-recent book, Myth and Trauma.

Below are some links to previous posts written on the occasion of the June solstice years past. Before reading them, however, there is yet one more intriguing and related subject to consider at this momentous point in our annual cycle, and that is the subject of the celestial mechanics which give rise to the solstices and equinoxes and seasons of the year in the first place.

I have always explained these phenomena from the perspective of the conventional and commonly-accepted Copernican paradigm. However, thanks to the persistence of a friend of my work from Western Australia, who introduced me to the Tychos model of Simon "Shack" (who like myself also has Norwegian ancestry), I must point out that the observations we perceive from our earth could be explained by other models, and that in fact the conventional model has tremendous difficulty with a number of observed phenomena, including the observation of "negative parallax," the apparent acceleration in the rate of the precession of the equinoxes over the ages, the so-called "anomalous precession of Mercury's perihelion," and especially the observed behavior of the planet Mars (among many other datasets which cause difficulty for the conventional theory).

Simon Shack has proposed a completely different model which would also explain all the observations we see in the heavens, including the solstices and equinoxes and the phenomena of precession, and it involves the sun moving in a binary relationship with another heavenly body -- a proposition which other researchers including my friend Walter Cruttenden have also argued, although Simon proposes a fairly radical candidate for the sun's binary companion: the planet Mars.

You can see more about Simon's proposed model here, and can also order his book on the subject through that same site. You can also watch an animation of his model online here (click the box next to the word "run" in the control panel on the right side of the screen to see the animation of his proposed orbits).

I always try to keep an open mind about different models which might explain the evidence we see in any situation -- much like Scooby Doo and Shaggy when approaching a mystery. Personally, I am not wedded to any specific model of the solar system and am willing to listen to arguments from those who believe that some evidence we observe does not seem to fit the conventional paradigm, and could be better explained by a different model.

What model we adopt does not actually make any difference for what we see in the myths, which are my primary focus. The myths clearly use the heavenly cycles to convey esoteric truths for our benefit and blessing in this life. The mechanics that create those cycles can be debated. If the conventional (that is, Copernican) model we have been using to try to explain those heavenly cycles needs revision (or if it doesn't), that does not change the fact that the ancient myths, scriptures and sacred stories are clearly using those heavenly cycles.

Indeed, the ancient cultures of our earth appear to have had an incredibly sophisticated understanding of the heavenly cycles. Not only did they understand the subtle and difficult-to-perceive motion of the precession of the equinoxes, thousands of years before conventional history admits that anyone understood precession, but they also created calendar systems which in many ways can be shown to reflect a profound understanding of the heavenly cycles.

As Simon Shack points out in one posting, the fact that the ancient Egyptians made the heliacal rising of the star Sirius a central milestone for one of their three important calendar systems may have been due to the fact that the heliacal rising of Sirius remains much more stable throughout the years than the heliacal rise of other stars -- an observation which is difficult to explain within the conventional paradigm but which may argue for one of the binary-star paradigms proposed by Walter or Simon. Simon's theory argues that Sirius may have a more stable heliacal rise date throughout the years because its "proper motion" parallels the path he proposes for our earth within the binary system he describes (a binary system, interestingly enough, which he sees as similar in many ways to the Sirius system itself).

These are all important subjects to ponder this year, as we arrive at the significant moment of June solstice.

Previous posts on this important annual milestone, for those interested, include:

p.s.: Note that in his book, Gordon Freeman also demonstrates that Stonehenge with its alignments functions as a sophisticated lunar calendar as well (the incredible multi-layered design of this monument, executed in massive stonework, is simply amazing to consider).

Glorious Stars in Tonight's Sky: all the world's myths are celestial!

Above is a new video I've just published entitled "Glorious Stars in Tonight's Sky: all the world's myths are celestial!"

In it, we visit one of the most beautiful and mythologically-important regions of the night sky, with some discussion of how to identify the constellations Hercules, Ophiuchus and Scorpio (as well as Corona Borealis and the bright star Vega).

Ophiuchus and Hercules are not exactly easy or obvious to locate in the heavens, even on a clear night, but with these tips you should have no difficulty finding them for yourself, if you are able to get to a location with clear views and relatively low levels of light pollution.

The fact that these constellations, which play such important roles in the system of ancient myth operating in cultures around the globe, are somewhat difficult to identify and not exactly "intuitively obvious" provides an important counter to the argument I sometimes hear, which says that "of course the world's myths might be influenced by the stars: after all, you can see the stars wherever you are on planet earth."

Of course, it is true that we can see the stars around the globe, but it is by no means obvious that cultures would all independently decide to base their myths on celestial metaphor. It also should be evident that even if all cultures independently came up with such an idea, they would probably identify very different constellations and attribute very different characteristics and personalities to the constellations they designed -- and yet what we actually find is that the very same system appears to be operating around the globe, with constellations sharing similar attributes and characteristics across cultures, even on opposite sides of the earth.

I hope you will enjoy this new video and that you will have an opportunity to go outside under the glorious night sky and observe some of the constellations in person. And perhaps some will be able to find constellations such as Ophiuchus and Hercules for the very first time, which I find very exciting!

In fact, I'm excited every time I see them, no matter how many times I might have seen them before.

Where do the gods dwell?

Above is a new video I've just published entitled, "Where do the gods dwell?"

The ancients, from every culture on earth, were aware that the divine realm is always present, at all times.

It has often been repeated that in the ancient world-view, every locality had its presiding deity, every fountain had its nymph, every tree its dryad, every wind had its presiding god, and every star was a deity.

These sentiments are almost always expressed in the past tense . . . but the divine realm has not gone away nor receded out of our reach.

To see a previous post exploring the above oft-repeated quotation, see "Every fountain has its nymph," from April of 2016, and you may also be interested in the previous video entitled "The gods are always near," from September of last year.

The ancient myths and scriptures, as I explore in my most-recent book, indicate that we have access to the infinite realm through our authentic self, and we always have access to our own authentic self, because our self is always present with us, even when we know it not.

And that means that the divine realm of the gods is always present and available, no matter where we are or what we are going through.

Mithraic ritual in modern America?

The numerous suspicious and difficult-to-explain aspects of the recent shocking events being broadcast on the news and all over social media appear to confirm the thesis that I advance in my most-recent book, Myth and Trauma, and a thesis which I have been working on since writing The Undying Stars (published in 2014 but a book that covers subject matter that I was investigating from about 2012 through 2014, and some of it going back to 2009).

In this new video, I give some broad explanation of my argument that the world's ancient myths point us towards the recovery of our essential self, from whom we become alienated to psychological trauma.

However, the precious inheritance of the ancient myths, given to every culture on every inhabited continent and island, has been stolen by those who want to induce trauma, rather than wanting to heal trauma.

The perpetrators of this conspiracy against the ancient gods include the founders of literalist Christianity -- but also the much more secretive and mysterious ancient society of Mithras Sol Invictus.

The important thing we must all realize is that they never went away: this is not ancient history. This information is critical to having any hope of understanding what we see going on around us in the world right now, this very day.

Recent events (including the "fall in buffalo") have some very suspicious indications of containing Mithraic symbology and of constituting a mass ritual.

It is not a ritual intended for our elevation, but rather intended for "pushing our buttons" and manipulating men and women as if they were robots, or puppets.

For other videos on this subject, please see:
and
As I say in the new video, YouTube (and its parent company, Google) have undoubtedly been lowering the search results for my videos and YouTube channel in recent years, compared to when I first started making videos a decade ago, so the best way to get around their soft censorship is to share with those who might find this information to be positive or beneficial or in some way helpful -- as well as with anyone in academia who might be open to examining evidence or perspectives that they have not previously considered. Also those in the world of independent media, who would like to help spread the positive message of the world's ancient wisdom to a wider audience.

I hope that the information discussed in this video will be helpful to everyone who watches it, and will help us to see the big picture, to take the right course of action for the future, and to expose the lies of those who want to manipulate and divide the people in order to continue to exploit and oppress others in order to enrich themselves.

Robert F. Kennedy, 1925 - 1968

image: Wikimedia commons (link).

June 05, 2020 marks the 52nd year since the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy (1925 - 1968) on the night of his victory in the California Presidential Primary. He was 42 years old.

That the official story of the assassination of Bobby Kennedy is a complete lie has been established beyond any reasonable doubt in the intervening years, and yet the mainstream corporate media continues to feed that lie to the people of the United States and the world, and to refuse to allow a retrial of the alleged lone gunman, Sirhan Sirhan, who remains in prison to this day.

Below is a recently-created video by Chuck Marler providing a thorough discussion of the evidence which proves beyond any doubt the fact that Bobby Kennedy's murder was the result of a well-orchestrated, meticulously planned, and carefully coordinated conspiracy. The video also presents clear and incontestable evidence of a powerful cover-up which included the attempt to intimidate witnesses, the throwing of Sirhan's defense, and the deliberate destruction of massive amounts of critical evidence.

Here is a link to a previous post I published two years ago about the murder of Robert F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his death. It contains links to another very thorough investigative documentary examining the evidence of criminal conspiracy in the murder of Bobby Kennedy, entitled The Second Gun and published by Ted Charac (1931 - 2013) in 1973, which should also be considered essential viewing.

Additionally, here are three videos of a 2018 interview with Paul Schrade, who knew Bobby Kennedy personally and who was wounded by a bullet in the pantry of the Ambassador Hotel on that fatal night in June of 1968:

While I have heard other interviews with Paul Schrade, I have not yet heard this particular interview from 2018 contained in these three segments (each segment about 15 or 16 minutes in length), but I intend to listen to them some time today.

The fact that fifty-two years have passed since the cold-blooded murders of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Senator Robert F. Kennedy does not in any way mean that these events have receded into history. The very fact that the cover-up of the facts around their murders continues right up to the present time -- with all of the major media marching in lock-step in support of the patently false "official narratives" while pointedly ignoring the undeniable evidence of criminal conspiracy and ensuing cover-up (coming from the very highest levels) -- indicates beyond any doubt that the forces responsible for those killings and the subsequent obstruction of justice and the dissemination of outright propaganda and falsehood about the actual events must still be in power.

And why wouldn't those forces responsible for those killings still be in power, seeing as they have never been effectively investigated and brought to justice for their many crimes?

If those alive today, including the upcoming generations, are not taught the true history of the events of 1968, and the tremendous implications of the murder of Bobby Kennedy (who had just secured the primary votes necessary to ensure that he would be the presidential candidate in the election of that year), we will be hard-pressed to accurately interpret the events that we see going on around us today.

Bobby Kennedy was a principled and aggressive participant in the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s, as well as a strong opponent of organized crime, and of the Vietnam War. The fact that so many men and women do not realize the significance of his murder in 1968 shows what a powerful tool the control of history and the historical narrative can be. His murder removed one of the last opportunities for the United States to turn back from the disastrous road which has led us to the point where we are today.

We urgently need to wake up to the truth, recover our lost history, and expose the enemies who have perpetrated these crimes and who continue to try to cover them up with lies.

Equal Rights and Justice: Concrete Suggestions

I've just published a new video entitled "Equal Rights and Justice: Concrete Suggestions."

In the video I express my absolute support for massive protests in the face of the murder of George Floyd and the centuries of racial oppression, systemic exploitation and injustice.

I also note that all men and women have an inalienable right to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and an inalienable right peaceably to assemble and to petition their government (which belongs to the people) for a redress of grievances.

I discuss the disturbing evidence of the widespread and systematic deployment of provocateurs to deliberately subvert these inalienable rights, and the fact that such subversion of the inalienable right to assemble and petition for redress of grievances violates the founding documents of the nation, which all those in the military are sworn to support and defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

The video also explores the repeated use of the pattern of provocateurs in the decades following the ostensible end of World War II -- right up to the present.

And, the video provides concrete suggestions for solutions to some of the glaring problems of police brutality and systemic exploitation, including:

  • An immediate end to the use of all chokeholds of any kind by police in the US
  • The de-militarization of the police in the US
  • Forbidding the police to make arrests except of those committing an overt and ongoing act of violence
  • The institution of a fully voluntary federal jobs guarantee program, following the decades of work on this concept by MMT economists such as Warren Mosler, Bill Mitchell, and Stephanie Kelton
  • The institution of a public banking alternative, perhaps using the US Postal Service (with an online option as well), following the work on this concept by economists such as Michael Hudson and authors such as Ellen Brown
The sacred traditions of virtually every culture of humanity universally declare that the life of every man, woman and child is a gift from heaven. They also declare that the gifts of nature such as the natural resources of forests, streams, ocean ports, fertile soil, sunshine, rain, and the mineral wealth under the earth are also themselves gifts from heaven to the people of a land -- but that the most precious heaven-sent resources of all are the people allowed to be born into that land, and the unique gifts given to each and every man and woman.

No one has the right to take away the divinely-given life of anyone. Likewise, economic and social systems which deny the ability of others to develop and use their heaven-sent gifts constitute an affront to heaven. We can and must create systemic changes which will eliminate unemployment, economic exploitation, racism, white supremacy, and police brutality.

The mandate for doing so comes from a source far higher than the power of any power that has wrongly been seized by those who have chosen to stand against humanity.

Video: Difficult-to-explain aspects of the despicable murder of George Floyd

Here's a new video I recently published entitled "What's going on? May 31, 2020" which details a number of very difficult-to-explain aspects of the horrific and despicable murder of George Floyd.

[A newer, shorter version -- under ten minutes -- of the above video is now available as well].

This subject is obviously very sensitive and emotionally charged, which makes it difficult to discuss objectively and also makes it easy to criticize anyone who looks at it with a critical eye, but as the video points out, there are a number of aspects of the awful incident itself which demand further investigation -- and which the corporate media appears to be completely ignoring over the past week of breathless coverage.

As the song from the Vietnam era says: "There's something happening here: what it is ain't exactly clear" (Suspicious aspects of the band behind that song were discussed in a previous post about the Gulf of Tonkin deception, published back in 2014).

These details are very difficult to explain, unless you consider the possible framework (supported by evidence going back for many decades, if not much, much further) which allows for the understanding that trauma-inducing events are deliberately engineered in order to manipulate the people for the purpose of greater exploitation and oppression, a pattern which is discussed at some length in my most-recent book, Myth and Trauma.

Sadly, the patterns discussed in that book become more relevant to the events we see taking place in the world around us every day.

For discussions of previous events in which the corporate media appears to have been engaged in shameful deception or at the very least uncritical regurgitation of a single perspective without investigation of clearly suspicious or contradictory information, see also:
